Hello Orange Winelovers,
Spring is approaching, the pruning is almost done and its time to get back into some tastings.
Ferment is currently closed on Mondays but Natalie and Simon are kindly allowing me to hold some short, sharp tastings.
The first is Monday 8 September. The theme – New Wave Reds. Think out outside the (French) square here with Italian varieties nero d’avola, aglianico, sagrantino, montepulciano, corvina, rondinella and primitivo - aka zinfandel. From Spain, tempranillo is king along with graciano, mencia, monastrell and garnacha – OK, we know it as grenache but it is Spanish by birth. Let’s kick off early at 6pm with some cheese and charcuterie platters.
Monday 8 September 6-8.30pm Ferment The Orange Wine Centre 87 Hill St, Orange $75 book here.
I’m away for the first part of October and then it's The Orange Wine Festival.
Look out for a number of wine events I’ll be hosting at both at Ferment and in Sydney - at Luke Mangan’s groovy Danks Street warehouse.
Here are a couple of dates for the diary
Monday 1 December for New Wave Whites at Ferment.
Hope to see you on the 8th.
