While Champagne may claim the high ground, France produces a plethora of scintillating sparklings, many under the enticing name of Cremant. Think Cremant d’Alsace, Cremant de Bourgogne, Cremant de Loire etc. Add in the historic appellation Limoux and the choice is endless.
To help you choose, the GT WINE Magazine tasting panel gargled their way through more than 60 sparklings (my gums still ache) to pull out the best. We included Spanish CAVA, German Sekt, Italian Franciacorta and even a Greek bubbly. We excluded Prosecco to save the last of our teeth enamel.
