Carillion Vineyard is situated on the slopes of Mt Canobolas at elevations of 750 - 800 metres. The terroir of our site provides us with fruit with true varietal intensity. The Verduzzo grape variety emanates from the Friuili region of northern Italy and has adapted well to cool climate areas of Australia. This wine is pale greenish yellow in colour with a subtle aromatic bouquet. The palate displays characteristics of minerals and subtle stone fruit with a lingering acidic finish. The wine will gain added complexity from medium term cellaring.
Peter Bourne says...
Colour: Pale lemon with green reflections
Smell: Exotic bouquet of monstera deliciosa and fresh pineapple with a whiff of musk and orange flower water.
Taste: Abundant flavours of fresh tropical fruit, wild honey and yellow peaches with a whiff of white pepper and lemongrass. The rich, lavish palate is saved from excess by a pleasing embrace of phenolics that lift the wine and help carry the finish.
Cellaring: Now to 2017
Food: Finely-sliced fennel with segments of pink grapefruit generously doused in spicy olive oil.
