Expressing the wild and feminine nature of pinot noir. Capturing delicacy and elegance along with depth and texture.

No 8 Pinot Noir is named in reference to Philip’s lucky number 8. When the first Pinot Noir grapes were planted at Koomooloo, pinot noir was not an established variety in Orange, a lucky gamble that payed off.

Palate:

The No 8 is wonderfully expressive. Vibrant bouquet of ripe cherry, berry fruits and subtle hint of charcuterie. An elegant wine, the palate has juicy charry and fresh plum, supple tannins, undertones of forest floor and graphite with lingering savoury herbal tones.
The grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted. The wine is fermented in open vats with wild yeast. 40% while bunch to develop interest and texture. Maturation in 30% new French barriques with malolactic fermentation in the spring with 10 months maturation on very fine lees.n

Description

This version of No8 presents aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, hints of earthy, forest floor and dark cherry. Red fruits and violet dominate the flavours with layers of complex savoury herbs, and structured tannins create a refreshing finish.
