Colmar's model for Pinot Gris is the full-bodied French (Alsace) style and this year they nailed it. The 2015 season in Orange was perfect allowing them to fully ripen the Pinot Gris in their cool Colmar Estate vineyard, while retaining balancing acidity.
Their french winemaker Chris Derrez went to town, employing some of the techniques of his homeland. The result is everything we could have hoped for – lovely ‘poached pear’ aromas and a rich but stylish palate with complex flavours and texture.
